Animal-to-Human Transplants: the Ethics of Xenotransplantation

The Council’s Report was published in March 1996. At the time there was cautious optimism about the future of xenotransplantation. However, there have still been no clinical trials involving whole organs in the UK, and recent reports from UKXIRA suggest the likelihood of animal-to-human transplants may be receding.
