The Council met on 12th May 2005 for its annual Forward Look seminar to discuss possible topics for future consideration. Professor Norman Daniels of the Harvard School of Public Health, USA, and Dr Bettina Schöne-Seifert of the Institut für Ethik, Germany, attended the seminar as guests of the Council. Dr Bettina Schöne-Seifert and Professor Tom Baldwin acted as discussants of the lecture given by Professor Daniels the previous evening entitled 'Equity and Health: A Bioethics Agenda for the Next Decade'. A transcript of the lecture can be found . Participants spent the morning reflecting on the issues raised by Professor Daniels. In the afternoon, participants were split into breakout groups to discuss three separate topics: global health inequities, nanotechnology and neuroethics. The day ended with a session in which the groups reported on their conclusions followed by general discussion.
