Activity 4 - Are animal experiments painful?
Do animals feel pain in the same way as human beings? This question is explored in this activity. Students are also asked to consider whether a few severe procedures are worse than many mild ones in relation to the costs and benefits of the research in which they are involved.
Government data tends to mask the number of procedures at different levels of severity because they are based on averages. Is this the right way to go about it?
