Genetically Modified Crops
Follow-up Paper
The use of genetically modified crops in developing countries
The Council’s Report, Genetically modified crops: ethical and social issues, provoked considerable discussion in 1999. Four years on, the Council decided to produce a follow-up Discussion Paper, focusing specifically on the role of GM crops in developing countries.
The final Discussion Paper was released on 28 December, 2003. To download a copy, please click here.
The draft paper was intended to contribute to 'GM nation?', the public debate on GM organised by the UK government in 2003.
