The Nuffield Council on Bioethics is looking to recruit a number of new Council members to be part of the deliberative body that drives the intellectual function of the organisation. The main responsibilities of the role are to consider questions on strategic direction and topic identification, scrutinise and ensure the quality of reports and other outputs, and make decisions on the direction and function of the organisation. Members are also involved in projects such as working groups, workshops and the production of publications such as briefing materials.We are seeking applications for new Council members and would particularly welcome applicants with experience in the following areas:

  • Basic and /or clinical science
  • Communications / media
  • Medicine / health practitioner
  • Policy and public affairs
  • Social science
  • Theology

Candidates need not be directly involved in the field of bioethics, but they should be able to demonstrate an interest and appreciation of the issues. Key qualities include a willingness to contribute to bioethical debate in an open and constructive manner.We would welcome applications from a broad range of individuals, including non- academics, and from people at all stages in their careers.
