We are pleased to announce that the Council is supporting children’s radio station Fun Kids to develop educational radio features that introduce children and parents to basic concepts of bioethics and aims to promote discussion of a range of topical issues.

‘Demanding dilemmas’ is a 10-part series written for a core audience of children aged 6 to 12. The series will feature two established Fun Kids characters, Benny and Mal, discussing contemporary bioethics topics in a talking heads style, and debating different points of view on an issue. Examples of familiar everyday dilemmas will be used as a route into the discussion of ethical dilemmas that are raised by scientific research. Council topics that will feature in the series include biofuels, GM crops and our current project on children and clinical research.

The Demanding Dilemmas series with Benny and Mal will begin broadcasting in mid-December. Follow our Facebook and Twitter pages for further news about the different episodes and the broadcast schedule.

Fun Kids is a radio station for children aged 12 and under and their families. Listeners can tune in on DAB Digital Radio across London and the South East, and across the UK online - find out more at www.funkidslive.com
